A Sketch A Day - Sidd, Rose and Amber

Characters I haven't drawn in a long time. I don't think I got Rose's design right...
I also got some markers last week. I decided to get the grey scales of Letraset's ProMarkers, and I got them all except for Cool Grey 2, but I should be okay without it.

So I tried out the Warm Grey scale on this drawing of Amber.

A Sketch A Day - Scooter

Yeah, I got this idea the other day that I really wanted to draw my 8' tall character Miles on a scooter. I have no idea how that got into my head (I think I saw a really tall, big guy on a really small scooter while I was in town or something), but I just couldn't get it out of my head, so I finally broke down and drew it. First, I made some small ink sketches.

You can even see how tall he is compared to his 5 foot-something girlfriend there in the middle.

It turns out that I chose a really bad paper, because once I had sketched it out, it wouldn't let me erase the pencil without smudging, so I just inked on top of it, hoping to be able to fade out the grey in scanning. It sort of worked.

And that's how it turned out. I'm not too happy with the perspective in some places, especially with the wheels. I had so many problems with those wheels.
I think I'll transfer this to a better paper and try to color it later.

A Sketch A Day - On the Bus

I had planned to do some life drawings today, but I ended up hurrying everywhere I went, so I only found time to do one drawing while on the bus home.

A Sketch A Day - People

I was at an appointment at a school I'm applying for, and I took some time to sit down and draw some people. Unfortunately, not many people walked by.

Some women who were talking on their cellphones, and finally an old lady on the bus.s

A Sketch A Day - Ink Sketches

Testing out some nibs, and a reservoir School-G pen I just got. I'm a bit sad that the ink in the G pen gets a bit grey once it dries, so I'll stick with my ink bottles for inking.

A Sketch A Day - Color!

I got a box with 12 of Derwent's Coloursoft pencils around my birthday in March. So I thought I'd get around to try them out now. I really like how soft they are, and I think it could be a good way to teach me not to be so heavy-handed when I draw.

This guy has some pretty feminine legs... Oh well.

A Sketch A Day - In Town

I was in SkellefteƄ earlier today, and I took some time to sketch while waiting for the bus.

There were a lot of people eating burgers in this area, but most of them moved around, so I could only capture a few of them.

Quick sketches of some people at the bus station.

A Sketch A Day - Moleskine

Got myself a Moleskine sketchbook, and I love it so far. This was just some random doodles, although I did use a reference for the guy on the right (Thanks linzstock)

A Sketch A Day - In The Car

My sister's boyfriend in the car. I drew this a few days ago while on the way to my mother.s

A Sketch A Day: Back Off

This is turning into more of a "Sketch Every Now And Then". Oh well.
Just a quick sketch to try out a pose.

A Sketch A Day - Nib testing

I finally got around to making a chart over the nibs for my dip pens. I still need a lot of practice with them, and it's really hard to make lines that look good.

A Sketch A Day - Memories

So, I'm a fan of One Piece, but I haven't drawn anything related to it in a long time. After reading volume 50 of the manga, I got this idea in my head. After all, after being alone on a dead ship for fifty years, it's a miracle that Brukk (Brooke, whatever. All translations are different) didn't go batshit insane. Perhaps the sound of his friends' voices was the only thing keeping him sane.

(Edit)

Inked and done. I'm pretty happy with this, as it has been a really long time since I inked anything using nib pen and ink. The live-version has some highlights between his suit and the coffin.

A Sketch A Day - Not exactly every day...

Sketched out while waiting for my mother in the hospital cafeteria. The guy closest to me got out of his chair just as I was going to start drawing him.

Just some faces, trying to draw an elderly character.

Gave up with the pose for now. I've got to find some references...

A Sketch A Day - Two Days

Just some quick sketches of a couple of people at a meeting I went to on Wednesday.

Seems like it's easier to draw with felt tip pens right now. Hm. Good to know.

A Sketch A Day - Superman

One of the images I was supposed to draw today. I've got to tell you, drawing Superman and Batman is a big leap from drawing Goombas.

A Sketch A Day - Three days worth

Heh, I completely forgot to upload the sketches for Saturday and Sunday. Oh well.

On Saturday, the task was to draw the Nostalgia Critic.

On Sunday, the theme was "Owl".

Then finally today, it was Goombas. These little guys were surprisingly hard to draw.

A sketch A Day: Newly Hatched

A friend is helping me by giving me things to draw every day. I really hope this will work.

A Sketch A Day - Vaughn

Yeah, so I'm a fan of the Harvest Moon series. I've been playing Island of Happiness a lot lately, and the guy I almost always aim for is Vaughn, the silent loner type. That he's got white hair and red eyes helps too.

A Sketch A Day - Skull Joker

I'm trying to get some doodling going, where I just draw whatever comes to mind. It's actually really hard, because I still have to shake the habit of thinking "what if it turns out wrong?".

A Sketch A Day - New start

Wow... It's a long time since I wrote up something here. I just lost all drive and interest for a few months. Not fun at all. But now I'll shape up and get this sketching going. Because gosh darn it, I love to draw, and I don't want to stop doing it. =)
Anyway, happy new year and I hope this new decade will be a good one.
